Farhaan & Khairunnisa Khan

We are Farhaan and Khairunnisa Khan from South Africa. We both love travelling and had travelled a lot by road in an around South Africa. But we had a dream of doing something big… of making travel our life and the world our playground. For many years we kept the dream alive by talking about it, saving up for it and creating a list of places we would like to visit. Then in 2013 by the grace of God, we were able to make this dream a reality.

After a year and a half of planning and preparation, we quit our jobs and on 1 March 2015 started to live the dream – #Joburg2Jerusalem and beyond. We were blessed to be able to visit the 3 Harams and spend Ramadan 2015 in Al-Quds / Jerusalem.

The furthest point that we drove to was the Pakistan-China Border.

We drove through 16 countries, travelled a total of 37000 kms, made amazing friends, experienced the most powerful forces of nature in Pakistan, witnessed the endless plains of the Serengeti, prayed the Jumma prayers with thousands of Palestinians at Masjid Al-Aqsa, were left in awe at the Ngorongo Crater, felt tiny in front of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya, took a ferry over the Red Sea, wild camped amongst the Kaluts of Dasht-e-Lut in Iran, were forced to stay in our car for 2 days during rain in Turkey, slept amongst the Caucuses Mountains in Georgia, drove above the clouds in Armenia, drove in snow for the first time in Azad Kashmir and left a part of us in every place we visited.

We arrived back in South Africa on May 16, 2016, after 14 months on the road. But our heart still remains out there and the dream has only grown bigger.
