Taariq Uwais Malinga, born in KZN in 1986 and moved to Johannesburg in 1998 with his family. Now 32 years of age and Hafizul Quraan and brother to Faaiza Malinga who did a collaboration with Zain Bhika. Taariq started singing at a tender age for functions like weddings, Jalsas and other local functions. He then put his career on hold to complete his Islamic studies of Quraan at Madrassa Ziya Ul Badri in Jeppestown under Qari Moosa Seedat. He then resumed his career again in 2008.
Since then, he has collaborated with various big names such as Ahmed Hussein from the UK, Mohammed Milad Razza Qadri also from the UK and our very own renowned artist Zain Bhika, but to mention a few.
Taariq has travelled throughout the African continent promoting Dawah through his nasheeds. He has composed nasheeds in various langusges; Zulu, Chichewa, English, Swahili, French, Portuguese and Arabic.
One of his many missions is to change false beliefs that Islam is for particular races especially amongst our African brothers and sisters.
Taariq is also involved in a lot of youth and social upliftment programs through motivational speaking as well as working with orphanages and Dawah centres, among them are Islamic Study Centre, Dawah Wal Irshaad, Al Barakah Children’s Home and Darul Atayam.
He hopes to continue carrying the message of Islam through his work for the years to come.
